BAS(Honours) 2016 Architectural Design Studio project.
About the project:
This 1st Semester Honours project looked at creating a new youth-oriented sports precinct in Gugulethu. The urban strategy was to connect two schools through a series of outdoor programmes (public open courts, athletics track, sports field). The proposed architecture was a small building with a big presence: the Gugulethu Youth Sports Complex comprises a series of spaces orientated to serve the outdoor urban programme, including a new recreation room that becomes a safe space for youth to retreat to after school.
Tools used: ARCHICAD 19 (for building information modelling), AutoCAD 2015, Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Illustrator CS6, rendered on ARCHICAD 19 CineRender, Rhinoceros 5, Grasshopper, Ladybug (for parametric environmental analysis), Autodesk Flow Design (for wind tunnel simulation)
